Wait, did you say Brewery or Distillery??!? Is there alcohol in these? Will my dog get drunk?

  • NO!!! There is absolutely no alcohol or hops in our Brew Biscuits. The “Spent Grain” is a by-product long before alcohol is ever made.

OK, I’m intrigued, so start over, what are “spent grains”?

  • When brewing beer or distilling whiskey, the process starts at the same place……by crushing grains and boiling them in water in a piece of equipment called a mashtun. This process converts the starch in the grains into sugar. This “sugar water” is then siphoned into another tank to become either beer by adding hops and yeast or whiskey by multiple rounds of distillation and barrel aging! The grains that were boiled are leftover in the mashtun after the “sugar water” was siphoned off.

THAT’S SO COOL!!!! What do the Brewery’s and Distillery’s normally do with the “spent grains”?

  • Brewers/Distillers must either pay for removal of the “spent grains” or coordinate farmers to pick them up. Either way costs time, energy, and money. Brew Biscuits up-cycles some of their “spent grain” into your dog’s favorite biscuits!

So what’s in them again?

  • “Spent Grain”, Peanut Butter, Flour, and Egg.

No chicken? My dog is allergic to chicken

  • NO CHICKEN, just eggs, which are a different allergen than chicken.

My dog has a sensitive stomach, I’m not too sure these are a good idea. Are Brew Biscuits OK for dogs with a sensitive tummy?

  • YES!!!! Spent grain is a great source of protein and fiber, aiding in digestion and providing essential amino acids needed for healthy muscle growth, repair and energy levels. We aren’t veterinarians here at Brew Biscuits, but we tell folks these have never caused our dogs any issues……from either end. We hope that you and your pup(s) have the same experience!

Our dog has a pre-existing condition and we have to be on the lookout for certain levels in their food, do you know how much Fat/Protein are in your Brew Biscuits?

  • Having to read labels to give your pup a treat is tough, especially if there is nothing listed on the bag. Have no fear, each different Brew Biscuit has been lab tested and the full Guaranteed Analysis is on the back label so you can identify if Brew Biscuits will be a fit into your dog’s diet.

Why do you have different Breweries or Distilleries on the labels?

  • There are different Breweries and Distilleries on the labels, because the “spent grain” in those biscuits are from THAT brewery! For example, the Greater Good Pulp Daddy Brew Biscuits were made with the spent grain from Greater Good’s Pulp Daddy New England IPA!

Sooooo, do they taste different?

  • As we advise these are not for Human Consumption, we believe that the doggos can tell that there are differences between the Brew Biscuits, but our dogs have never turned their noses up to a single Brew Biscuit! Our beloved Wilson (our logo and former Chief Tasting Officer – RIP Wilson!!!) had a favorite, which was Drawing Board’s Julka Brew Biscuit, he drooled when those were in the oven! Tedy Brewski, the newest member of the team, goes crazy for all, but a little bit extra crazy for the Boston Harbor Distillery Putnam Whiskey Biscuits! Again, they have eaten and loved EVERY biscuit! As far as the humans here, we just drink the finished products!
